I'm pretty sure I nailed it!!!

Not some picture on the wall, but my interview! I don't want to sound conceded or anything but I am a LEO!! and that's what I do. Anyways, I kinda did pretty awesome at the interview. I think I answered the questions pretty well and the guy was very nice. I felt confident and held my head high. He must have asked me like 20+ questions and took 3 pages of notes while I was talking. He told me about the business: Brekke Tours & Travel, which was founded 52 years ago by Arnnie Brekke, who is now 80 years old and still comes to work every day. They specialize in booking 9-15 day Scandinavian tours (Norway, Sweden, Finland, etc). The office building they are in used to be the airport terminal and has two apartments in the basement and an office space on the 2nd floor. They also have a few apartment buildings. It would be part of my job to show apartments, collect rent from tenants, and schedule/record maintenance issues. I would also maintain the office building schedules and grounds keeping (snow removal, lawn moving, and cleaning--i'm thinking I could hook you up, Karissa!!) And I'd do all the bookkeeping and taking reservations and payments, etc.
They had 2 other interviews to do, one yesterday and one today, and then he was gonna talk it over with the owners. Good news is that they are checking up on me more. They called my references today around 3:30pm. They called April, even though I had her listed as a personal reference. So she had to make like she was my boss and that I was the best employee she ever had! Thanks April! Then they called Randy, while I was on the phone with April telling me about them calling her! Randy came to see me at work tonight and told me that he really talked me up. And he says he'd be surprised if they DIDN'T offer me the position. So I'm very hopeful!
Anyways, I am hoping to hear from them tomorrow but I have a feeling they are gonna wait til next week.

Well gotta go. Just gettin' done with work and gotta be back by 8am. That sucks. But Derek will be home tomorrow and has a 4 day weekend. He's has Monday and Tuesday off! More quality spouse time!

I have an Interview!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep. I got the call this morning around 10am. Brekke Tours wants to interview me on Wednesday at 9:30am for a bookkeeper/receptionist position. I'm very nervous, but we'll see what happens. All I can do is give it my best. The good part is that this is a reason to come to GF so I can see Derek. I'm gonna leave here tomorrow after work so I don't have to get up so early to drive there in the morning....plus, why would I want to wait any longer than I need to to see my Dear?!

I'll let you know?!

Thanks April for this lovely picture of me chowin' on popcorn!

August 4th, 2008: To celebrate my birthday (one day late) and Derek's dad, John being in town.
Adorable, right?! Rhetorical Question!

August 13th, 2008: I went to Fargo with my sisters to go wedding dress shopping for Wendy. It was us three, our mom and Ryan's mom. It was a total blast! We had fun playing dress up with Wendy. After over 8 hours and 15 or so dresses, she actually found "the one" and ended up with her whole outfit decided. She hadn't intended on picking one out but this one called her name. For obvious reasons, I am not going to post pics of the dress. So you'll just have to make do with this adorable picture of us three sisters. Now more than ever, I'm realizing that they mean the world to me!

And then there was ONE.....

So Derek started his job at Cirrus on Monday, which means he is now living in GF and I'm still in DL! He's staying at my bosses house and we went down on Sunday to give it a little cleaning. We had to turn it into a little bachelor pad and stock the fridge and cupboards with his own groceries. I did some cooking for him on Saturday and made him suppers. I made chicken alfredo with green beans and sloppy joes with coleslaw. We got him lots of snacks and drinks. It was so weird when we were putting the stuff away, to think he was gonna be there all by himself. :-( There isn't any cable hooked up there so he just has a tv and dvd player and a stereo. I'm pretty sure he's gonna be bored out of his mind!

Derek hates his job! I'm pretty sure the people who run the show think that there are no competent human beings fit to operate there equipment. Everything seems to have been dumbed down so that a 10 year old could run the stuff. On his first day he had orientation and went over lots of policies and manuals. At the end of the day, he was told he was gonna be a "bagger"!!! That's right....a bagger! He'd put a plastic bag over the freshly made parts and hook a vacuum up to it to vacuum seal the bag! With all his experience and the turn him into a BAGGER!! Something a retarded monkey could figure out! How stupid?!?!?! On his second day, they must have realized they fucked up and put him on the "parts making" line. There he got to actually learn how to make the parts and he said that was a little bit better but still tedious and overwhelming "hard"!!! Today he seemed more comfortable with it all. I'm sure it just takes a couple of days to get adjusted to all the new stuff: new workplace, new schedule, new friends to make, and all this while being all alone! I feel really bad that I can't be there with him. Cuz I know it sucks to go thru it alone.

Just keep at it, Dear! It'll be okay! I know it sucks but just hang in there!

I stayed in GF with him until Tuesday morning. I drove back to DL at 6:30am cuz I had to work at 8am. On Monday I went around and applied to some more jobs and made some call backs on others. I'm sure I'll hear from someone, BUT I don't think it'll be until next week. I'm really being skeptical about having work lined up by the 1st...and I'm kinda freakin' out! I did ask my bosses today about staying a week or two longer if I don't have anything lined up and they said that was fine. I can't imagine them saying "NO! You have to leave now cuz you said you would!" but I had to ask.

With that in mind, I also don't think we will be moving into our house over Labor Day weekend. 1-I don't think we should spend the money on it if we can stay elsewhere and save some money and 2-I don't think I'll be ready to get everything moved over!

I've been weirded out by this new found single life! I hate sleeping alone and eating alone and, and, and...being ALONE!!! I'm so used to being with Derek that it's very awkward. I think about him all the time and hate that he's there all by himself. I've taken a vow of TV celibacy since he has no TV. I'm working out more and staying at work longer. I don't like to be at home alone. I've lost more than my hubby...I've lost my companion, my "we do everything together" buddy, my bestest friend! I LOVE YOU DEAR! FOREVER AND EVER!!!!

I know, I act like he gone forever and I know it's only 4 days but to me it's like a month! And if you can't handle me being all mushy.....TOO BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the words of Cinderella, "You Don't Know What You've Got 'Til It's Gone"----hahahahaha

Moving Update...in Cliff Notes...sort of

Derek got a job at Cirrus and starts next Monday the 18th! :''-( Tear! I don't know what I'm gonna do with out him?! I'm not done here until the 31st! We'll be ALL ALONE for 2 weeks!?!

April and Doug are checking on rates for hotel rooms for him, but I'm hoping that my bosses will let him stay at their house that we were gonna rent, so we don't have to pay out any money.

We'll be in GF on Friday.
9am - Derek has to take a drug test and physical for the Cirrus position.
10:30 - Then an interview with McFarlane Sheet Metal. They aren't hiring right now, but the guy still wanted to meet with him. Maybe he can get in with them later on.
Noon - We have our inspection on the house. Cross your fingers (or toes) for us that everything goes okay and we get the go-ahead on the whole thing.
Then more job hunting...for me.

We found out that our loan will not be approved until we can prove 30 days of employment at our new jobs, which means we can't close on the house until we've been working for at least 30 days. But the owner is willing to let us rent the house for a month until we can close on it.

And one more good note that was something we were freaking out about: we have a 2nd vehicle to borrow. Derek's mom and Dale have a 90's Cadillac (that I completely forgot they had) and they are gonna let us borrow it for a while. We're hoping to buy it--or trade it for use of our DL garage, and then use it as trade in for an older pickup.

We'll see what happens?!

Resumes, Applications, & Cover Letters

I'm kinda getting tired of talking myself up to people that I don't even know! ---Okay, so I could never get tired of talking highly of myself---I am a Leo after all, whatdaya expect!

The decision has been made that my last day of work will be on August 31st...only 23 days left! I've got a lot of shit to get done before then! OMG! Notes for my bosses, training new people, finishing a software upgrade! OMG! And it's really hard to concentrate on "work" when I'm trying to find a job in another town! It's proving to be a very stressful and time consuming process. But I'm making my way thru it. Tomorrow I will be faxing out my paperwork for a position with the City of GF Fire Dept....12 pages of paperwork! That includes their 3 page application, their anti-discrimination policy, their authorization to run a back ground check on me, my 2 page resume, my letter of recommendation from my current bosses, and my test results from Job Service! Yeah! I had to take 8 different tests at Job Service. According to the employees at Job Service, this was the most testing that any job has required in a very, very long time! What I took and how I scored:
Typing - 36 words per minute - 97% accurate
Data Entry - 26 words per minute - 96% accurate
Spelling - 80%
Vocabulary - 90%
Grammar - 85%
Microsoft Word - 90%
Microsoft Excel - 85%
Microsoft Access - 50% - pretty good for only hearing about this program 4 days before testing!

This was just like being in school again. I sat in an office for 2 hours straight! Nothing to drink or getting up to pee! It sucked! Overall, I guess I did ok! I'm not sure if it'll be enough to get the job, but we'll see?!

Derek's last day at work will be the 14th! Only one more week left for him. His boss's son is taking over and he's a really big asshole, so Derek is leaving! He's hoping to find something to start in GF on the 18th. That means he may need to live there for a couple of weeks before I get there! TEAR!! I don't know what I'm gonna do with myself! It's gonna be so weird! I'm not sure where he'll stay yet but we'll have to work out something. He had an interview at Cirrus Aircraft on Wed. and it went pretty good, but he's not sure if he'd want to work there. It might be a "waste of his talents" cuz apparently they do NO metal work. It's all repetitive fiberglass stamping of airplane parts and they don't even do assembly there. They ship all the parts to their Duluth plant. So he doesn't know. But he said if it was a last resort and they offered him the job and he had no where else to work, he'd do it!

Our other big dilemma is that we need a 2nd dependable vehicle, preferably a pickup, but that means we'd need money to pay for it.

Jeez, what the hell were we thinking when we started this project?!?! "Just jump in head first" huh? WTF?!?! Who the hell said that was a good idea?! ---- Oh yeah, me!

Happy Birthday to ME!!!

Happy Birthday to ME!
Happy Birthday to ME!
Happy Birthday to MMMMMEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Birthday to ME!

Hey, if I don't announce it, how am I gonna get any presents?! Or birthday wishes?!
Presents would be more fun, but unfortunately, getting older means having lamer birthdays!

I usually buy myself presents anyway! Cuz I am awesome and I deserve them!
What did I get myself this year? An extension on getting my wisdom teeth pulled! Yea! I was suppose to get them pulled on Friday but I didn't want to, so I extended it to September 5th! And next Saturday, I am getting my first tattoo! We are going to Fargo to 46 & 2 Tattoo to get me some flamin' cherries! I'll let you know how it goes!
