Resumes, Applications, & Cover Letters

I'm kinda getting tired of talking myself up to people that I don't even know! ---Okay, so I could never get tired of talking highly of myself---I am a Leo after all, whatdaya expect!

The decision has been made that my last day of work will be on August 31st...only 23 days left! I've got a lot of shit to get done before then! OMG! Notes for my bosses, training new people, finishing a software upgrade! OMG! And it's really hard to concentrate on "work" when I'm trying to find a job in another town! It's proving to be a very stressful and time consuming process. But I'm making my way thru it. Tomorrow I will be faxing out my paperwork for a position with the City of GF Fire Dept....12 pages of paperwork! That includes their 3 page application, their anti-discrimination policy, their authorization to run a back ground check on me, my 2 page resume, my letter of recommendation from my current bosses, and my test results from Job Service! Yeah! I had to take 8 different tests at Job Service. According to the employees at Job Service, this was the most testing that any job has required in a very, very long time! What I took and how I scored:
Typing - 36 words per minute - 97% accurate
Data Entry - 26 words per minute - 96% accurate
Spelling - 80%
Vocabulary - 90%
Grammar - 85%
Microsoft Word - 90%
Microsoft Excel - 85%
Microsoft Access - 50% - pretty good for only hearing about this program 4 days before testing!

This was just like being in school again. I sat in an office for 2 hours straight! Nothing to drink or getting up to pee! It sucked! Overall, I guess I did ok! I'm not sure if it'll be enough to get the job, but we'll see?!

Derek's last day at work will be the 14th! Only one more week left for him. His boss's son is taking over and he's a really big asshole, so Derek is leaving! He's hoping to find something to start in GF on the 18th. That means he may need to live there for a couple of weeks before I get there! TEAR!! I don't know what I'm gonna do with myself! It's gonna be so weird! I'm not sure where he'll stay yet but we'll have to work out something. He had an interview at Cirrus Aircraft on Wed. and it went pretty good, but he's not sure if he'd want to work there. It might be a "waste of his talents" cuz apparently they do NO metal work. It's all repetitive fiberglass stamping of airplane parts and they don't even do assembly there. They ship all the parts to their Duluth plant. So he doesn't know. But he said if it was a last resort and they offered him the job and he had no where else to work, he'd do it!

Our other big dilemma is that we need a 2nd dependable vehicle, preferably a pickup, but that means we'd need money to pay for it.

Jeez, what the hell were we thinking when we started this project?!?! "Just jump in head first" huh? WTF?!?! Who the hell said that was a good idea?! ---- Oh yeah, me!

New job shit is soooooo much fun (sarcasim). I hope you guys get whatever jobs you are hoping for and it pays tons of money so you can invite us all over to roll around in it in your bathroom. :)

I'm also having "tons of fun" figuring out everything that HAS to be done for my next career, so I understand your pain. It's funny how I knew it'd be tons of work, but it's not until you have to actually DO stuff that you realize it's even more work than you thought.

I wish you guys the best and that everything works out perfectly and smoothly. I'm just excited for you guys to be closer!

We might have rooms available on a weekly basis, April might too.

Yeah, if anything else, we have couches.

I hope the job hunts goes well.. I think you'll knock their freakin' socks off in the interview! They won't be able to say no!

Just think, hopefully in a month it will all be done and you can enjoy your new life as a Grand Forksian... or grand forker... or whatever... well you'll be more like a Thomsonite.

I can't wait to be closer to all you guys! Hopefully we have enough money to roll around in, I need it all in the bank, but we could use bubbles instead! ;-) I'm hoping it's all over in a month. I'll be glad when that time comes!
Derek is suppose to get a couple of calls on Monday, then we might have to make room arrangements.
